July and August 2012 – Patmos Island, Greece
The Book of Revelation
A Theatrical Rendition of St. John's Vision at the Historical Site of the "Cave of the Apocalypse", Patmos.
In summer 2012, visitors to Patmos Island will have again, like in 2011, the opportunity to witness the dramatic rendition of St. John's vision of the revelation in the amphitheater close to the historical site of the Cave of the Apocalypse.
The greek theater company "TECHNI" will perform a theatrical interpretation of the final book of the Bible, which has been connected to Patmos' history throughout the centuries.
This production is under the auspices of the Holy Monastery of Patmos.
Direction belongs to the noted german directors Barbara Hoffmann and Till Sterzenbach.
Extracts of the play will be translated into 4 languages. Also an original music score is being composed for the play by Spiros Papanastasiou along with ornate costumes, attentive staging and discreet effects.
The stage design is credited to Hans Hoffer, scenographer, teaching at the University of Music and Acting Arts of Vienna.
The play is scheduled for 8 shows, 26 – 30 of July and 1 – 3 of August 2012.
This cultural event could be the perfect occasion for many travellers to visit Patmos, one of the most beautiful islands in the Aegean Sea, Greece.
